Located in Oneida County, Sherrill also stands out as a proud hub of American manufacturing. Nicknamed “The Silver City,” it boasts a rich industrial heritage anchored by two nationally recognized employers:
Briggs & Stratton
Since expanding into Sherrill, Briggs & Stratton has established the city as a major U.S. manufacturing site for trusted brands such as Ferris, Simplicity, Snapper, Snapper Pro, and Billy Goat. In 2019, the company opened a cutting-edge 552,000-square-foot facility—doubling its previous footprint and employing approximately 1,000 workers, with additional capacity for future growth.
Sherrill Manufacturing (Liberty Tabletop)
Sherrill Manufacturing, operating under the Liberty Tabletop brand, was founded in 2005 by former Oneida Limited executives who stepped in to preserve the region’s historic flatware production. After overcoming early financial hurdles, the company successfully pivoted to direct-to-consumer sales and government contracts. Today, it remains the only flatware manufacturer in the United States, proudly producing high-quality stainless steel flatware right here in Sherrill.
